WOUND CARE MANAGEMENT

We offer a complete solution for both wound management and bedsore treatment at home. More than one-third of all patients at home are wound-related and home wound care has become one of the most important needs in home-care services. Wound care at home is very different from hospital wound care. Given the complexity and the multiple factors that affect healing, home wound care is a great challenge. Patients have chronic wounds like diabetic foot ulcers or open pressure ulcers (bedsores) that don’t heal easily while in other cases, the patient or caregiver is unable to monitor and change dressings in the most effective manner using the appropriate dressings, specialised foams, gels, and colloids with devices like Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Device.

Types of compression

  • Compression stockings are the most common mode of compression therapy.
  • Compression wraps or bandages are also common options. 2 & 4 Layers compression bandage
  • Other methods include mechanical (pneumatic) compression devices, such as a wearable compression boot or compressed air device for use at home or a clinic.
  • Manage lymphedema (swelling) and pain in the legs
  • Help wound healing, specifically ulcers
  • Manage vein problems
  • Prevent blood clots after surgery
  • Prevention of leg swelling for people who stand or sit for long periods of time, like during a long flight
  • Management of varicose veins
  • Prevention of leg ulcers
  • Maintenance therapy for lymphedema

Bedsore Treatment Specialists

You may know pressure sores by their more common name: bedsores. They happen when you lie or sit in one position too long and the weight of your body against the surface of the bed or chair cuts off the blood supply. You might get them if you’re on bed rest or in a wheelchair.

Your doctor may talk about the “stage” of your pressure sores. The stages are based on how deep the sores are, which can affect their treatment.

If found early, there’s a good chance these sores will heal in a few days, with little fuss or pain. Without treatment, they can get worse.

Stage 1

This is the mildest stage. These pressure sores only affect the upper layer of your skin.

Symptoms: Pain, burning, or itching are common symptoms. The spot may also feel different from the surrounding skin: firmer or softer, warmer or cooler.

Stage 2

This happens when the sore digs deeper below the surface of your skin.

Symptoms: Your skin is broken, leaves an open wound, or looks like a pus-filled blister. The area is swollen, warm, and/or red. The sore may ooze clear fluid or pus. And it’s painful.

Stage 3

These sores have gone through the second layer of skin into the fat tissue.

Symptoms: The sore looks like a crater and may have a bad odor. It may show signs of infection: red edges, pus, odor, heat, and/or drainage. The tissue in or around the sore is black if it has died.

Stage 4

These sores are the most serious. Some may even affect your muscles and ligaments.

Symptoms: The sore is deep and big. The skin has turned black and shows signs of infection — red edges, pus, odor, heat, and/or drainage. You may be able to see tendons, muscles, and bones.

VAC Therapy/ NPWT promotes wound healing by applying a vacuum through a special sealed dressing. The continued vacuum draws out fluid from the wound and increases blood flow to the area.
